2. Registration for and participation in the Schumann Competition

We would like to inform you (hereinafter also referred to as “participant”) that upon submission of the registration for the Schumann Competition (hereinafter also referred to as “competition”) together with further attachments, the association will process the personal data collected from you there (e.g. surname, first name, title, photograph, address, email address, curriculum vitae, name of the university, name of the teachers, nationality, competition program, bank details or payment information, if applicable) for the purposes of registration for the competition, payment of the participation fee, participant administration, implementation and organization of the competition and transmission of information on the competition to the participant. Furthermore, parts of the collected data as well as the placement in the competition will be printed in the program booklet and published on the competition homepage for the purpose of informing the public, the interested public and the jury about the performing artists. This also includes the information of the press. The competition will also be transmitted via livestream on the Internet.

The names, address, curriculum vitae, name of the university, the teachers and the competition program are mandatory information required for the execution of the participation contract. The legal basis for their processing is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b) DSGVO (Datenschutz-Grundverordnung). Participation in the competition is not possible without this information. The other data collected and all other additional data provided are voluntary. By submitting the registration form together with any additional attachments, you expressly consent to their processing for the above-mentioned purposes. The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 letter a) DSGVO.

Recipients of personal data

A transmission of parts of the data to the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf takes place within the framework of the service agreement concluded between the association and the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf, as the association has entrusted the Stadtsparkasse Düsseldorf with the collection of contributions, financial accounting and the issuing of donation receipts. Furthermore, parts of the collected data will be transferred to the Robert Schumann Hochschule, which will make the premises available for the execution of the competition. This serves the fulfilment of the participation contract with regard to compulsory data (legal basis Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b) DSGVO).

Personal data will also be transmitted to the jurors. This serves the implementation of the participation contract (Art. 6 Par. 1 S.1 lit. b) DSGVO). Furthermore, personal data will be transmitted to the audience, the press and technical service providers for the realization of the live streaming […]. This serves the implementation of the competition and thus the participation contract (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b) DSGVO) or is in any case in the legitimate interest of the association in the external impact of the competition (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) DSGVO).

Duration of the storage

Following participation in the competition, the personal data will be deleted unless they have to be kept for up to 10 years in accordance with the tax regulations under Sec. 147 AO or the participant gives his consent to be included in the competition archive (legal basis Art. 6 Para. 1 S. 1 lit. a) DSGVO).

Prize winners of 1st to 3rd place will be listed on the homepage for a period of up to one year by name and – if provided voluntarily – a photograph. The legal basis for this is the legitimate interest of the association in informing the interested public about the prize winners (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. f) DSGVO). Longer storage is only possible with the consent (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a) DSGVO) of the prize winners.

3. Communication with us

Processed data and purposes of processing

When contacting the association by email, the data you provide (your email address, your name and your telephone number, if applicable) will be stored by us in order to answer your questions or process your other requests. The legal basis for the processing of data transmitted in the course of sending an email is Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. f) DSGVO. If the email contact aims at the conclusion of a contract, the additional legal basis for the processing is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b) DSGVO.

Duration of storage

The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, i.e. when the respective conversation has ended, and provided that there is no obligation to retain it. The conversation ends when it is clear from the circumstances that the matter in question has been finally clarified.

4. Use of the homepage

Processed data and purposes of processing

When using our homepage, we process data about every access to the service (so-called server log files). These access data include:

  • anonymized IP addresses,
  • date and time of access,
  • browser type/version,
  • the operating system/version used,
  • URL of the previously visited website,
  • amount of data sent.

The data from the protocol or log files are used to ensure the functionality of the website, for which the legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. e) DSGVO. They also serve to defend against and analyse attacks. This constitutes a legitimate interest in data processing in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) DSGVO.

Duration of storage

For security purposes (e.g. to clear up acts of abuse or fraud), the above-mentioned data is stored for a maximum of 7 days and then deleted. Data whose further storage is required for evidentiary purposes are excluded from deletion until the respective incident has been finally clarified. The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f) DSGVO.

5. Your rights as a affected person

As far as the association processes your personal data, you have, within the framework of the applicable legal provisions the right

  • to information about your stored personal data (Art. 15 DSGVO) and 
  • to correct incorrect data (Art. 16 DSGVO), 
  • for deletion (Art. 17 DSGVO), 
  • to restriction of processing (Art. 18 DSGVO), 
  • to object to processing pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 letter f) DPA for reasons arising from your particular situation (Art. 21 DPA) and 
  • on data transferability (Art. 20 DSGVO). 

These rights can be asserted in writing or by email to the association.

If you have given your consent, it can be revoked at any time and without negative consequences for the future in the same way as it was given. Please note that the revocation does not affect data processing in the past. The member also has the right of appeal to the supervisory authority responsible for data protection law (Art. 77 DSGVO in conjunction with Sec. 19 BDSG).
